Damage detection and condition monitoring through sound - Acoustic Emission (AE)

It is a technology that measures the elastic waves (ultrasound) emitted when materials deform or break, in order to analyze the failure phenomena of the materials.

The AE method is a technique that analyzes the failure phenomena of materials by measuring the elastic waves (ultrasound) emitted when the materials deform or break. This method is used for damage detection, condition monitoring, and health monitoring.

IMA250 AE PROFESSOR AE Measurement Device

A portable AE measurement device that fits in the palm of your hand and operates on PC bus power.

This device measures AE waves to generate and analyze various data. It includes an amplifier, HPF, LPF, A/D converter, and USB interface. The amplification gain is fixed at 20dB for the preamplifier, while the main amplifier can be selected from 0 to 40dB in 10dB steps. The HPF can be set to THRU, fc=30kHz, fc=100kHz, or fc=200kHz. The output for monitoring the signal after amplification and filtering allows for confirmation of the analog signal. Gain, HPF, measurement mode, measurement time, and other settings can be configured via USB, and measurement data can be obtained. Peak values, RMS values, energy, and event counts are measured to generate data. Waveforms can be captured and transferred in real-time via USB. With a compact design that fits in the palm of your hand and operates on a single 5V power supply, this portable AE wave processing device is highly mobile, functioning with a mobile battery or USB bus power.
